IN ITALY
• Varallo Sesia (VC)
Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie – It has been the Mother House of our Institute since 1953. In this ancient Franciscan convent at the foot of the Sacred Mountain we preserve the church of the Madonna delle Grazie, entrusted by Mons. Gilla Vincenzo Gremigni to the Missionary Sisters. Here our Founding Mother, Margherita Maria Guaini, lived until 1994. She is buried beneath the altar of the Sacred Heart in the eponymous church.
Villa Santa Maria – Location and facilities: The retreat house of Villa Santa Maria is situated a short distance from the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie in Varallo, at the foot of the Sacred Mountain. The building has about 20 rooms for a total of 34 beds, spread over four floors; it includes elevators, two dining rooms, a garden, two terraces and an internal chapel.
Apostolic functions: Villa Santa Maria offers spiritual hospitality and a quiet place of lodging. It is an ideal setting for those seeking peace, reflection and prayer in a scenically beautiful and spiritually rich environment. We carry out our apostolate by providing spiritual support to pilgrims, parish groups and faithful visiting the Sacred Mountain and the Church of the Madonna delle Grazie, where one can admire the famous “Gaudenzian Wall” painted between 1512‑1513 by Gaudenzio Ferrari. Representing the life of Christ and an emblematic piece of local Franciscan devotion, the large fresco—an artistic‑faith synthesis—attracts many pilgrims and art critics throughout the year.
• Rome
In Rome is the General House of our Institute, located at Via Trionfale 7585. It also hosts the International Juniorate.
Since 1972 we have been custodians of the Church of the Holy Crucifix in Piazza dell’Oratorio, a building of notable artistic value with Mannerist‑style paintings celebrating the discovery of the Holy Cross. A community of MGES Sisters lives in the adjoining building; some of them serve in the Vatican’s Apostolic Almsgiving Office and at an ecclesiastical house.
• Ponte Lambro (CO)
Our Institute has two communities in Ponte Lambro: the Institute of Santa Chiara and the Casa Mater Dei.
The Santa Chiara Community hosts a state primary school that belongs to the Ponte Lambro Comprehensive Institute. Within the school we provide before‑ and after‑school services and a variety of extracurricular activities to meet families’ needs. We are also involved in parish collaborations.
The Casa Mater Dei welcomes our elderly and sick Sisters in a fraternal, peaceful and joyful atmosphere.
• Santa Margherita Ligure (GE)
In the holiday house “Oasi Regina Pacis” we offer hospitality, restorative moments and fraternal spirituality. The panoramic facility overlooks the sea, has about 12 rooms, a garden, a solarium and dedicated services.
• Novara
The house on Corso Risorgimento 30 was donated in 1979 to our Institute by Iolanda Carboni to establish a social work for the Borgo di Sant’Andrea in Novara. At Mother Margherita Maria Guaini’s initiative the Carboni Nursery School was opened in her honour as an educational space close to local families. The editorial office of our Institute magazine “…NUOVI” is also located in the Corso Risorgimento house. In Novara we are also present in the Bishop’s Residence.
• Bellinzago (NO)
Since 2020 we collaborate with teachers of the parish nursery school, offering our service in every area of pastoral care.
• Tregasio (MB)
Since 1955 we have been present in the Parish of Saints Gervaso and Protasio, providing pastoral animation and assisting the parish nursery school.
• Buccinasco (MI)
The community was opened in 1986. We cooperate with the parish school and in all pastoral activities.
• Ponte San Marco and Vighizzolo (BS)
In the province of Brescia we have offered, since 1962, intense collaboration with the nursery school; today we serve in pastoral animation.
• Molfetta (BA)
Since 2021 we are present in the Bishop’s Residence and at the Minor Seminary; we also collaborate in catechesis and liturgical animation in the Cathedral and in several city parishes.
• Matera
In 1978 the Founding Mother wished to return to the Institute’s place of origin, establishing a community in the Parish of San Rocco that remained there until 2008. Since 2022 a new community offers pastoral assistance in the Parish of San Giuseppe Artigiano and in the diocesan Caritas.
• Senorbì (CA)
We have been present in Sardinia since 1960, first in the Parish of Ballao and now in the Parish of Senorbì.
The Holy Spirit gave a gift to Mother Margherita Maria Guaini, our Foundress, to accept and respond to a question mystically received from the lips of Jesus: "What use is my Blood if no one makes it count?" (cf. Psalm 30:10), by sharing the universal thirst of Christ the Priest for salvation, making known, appreciated, and lived the mystery of the Holy Mass, in which He, through the ministry of Priests, continues to offer His unique and universal redemptive sacrifice to the Father.
